Why for her. by Arisa Exists
for her. by Arisa was created out of a desire to better support mothers during postpartum through food delivery.
A Postpartum Moment I Couldn’t Forget
I gave birth in 2021 in California and was fortunate to have the support of wonderful postpartum doulas. Even so, I remember many long nights after the final feed, when my baby was finally asleep and I would open the refrigerator to find it nearly empty. A few ingredients here and there, but nothing that felt ready, nourishing, or supportive of what my body needed in that moment.
I remember wishing that a magic genie would appear and prepare meals that were safe, clean, delicious, and restorative enough to carry me through the night as I cared for my baby.
Becoming the Support I Once Needed
Eleven months later, I decided to become that magic genie for future mothers who might find themselves standing in front of an empty fridge, just as I once did.
Why Food
My passion has always been centered on empowering women and creating something meaningful. Starting with food felt natural.
My family has been in the food business for generations. My grandfather founded MOS Burger in Japan in 1972, which would later become one of the leading burger chains in the country, with innovations such as the Teriyaki Burger and Rice Burger. He was guided by a belief that food should be both high quality and thoughtfully adapted to local culture. That philosophy has always stayed with me.
Food is fundamental fuel, yet it is often overlooked during postpartum, when mothers are busy caring for everyone else. I knew that the first way I wanted to support postpartum women was through nourishment.

薬膳
Yakuzen
The philosophy behind our food is Yakuzen, a Japanese culinary approach that blends principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine with seasonal Japanese ingredients, emphasizing balance and nourishment through everyday meals.
Yakuzen informs how we think about ingredients, preparation, and how food supports the body over time.
Our Hope
Our hope is simple. To mother the mothers, so they feel supported and cared for when they need it most.
